Death
We will eventually lose everything we love
Death is a reality we are all aware of but seldom really contemplate until we have to.
Death is the ultimate letting go. So many people are afraid to die, just as so many are afraid to let go. Coping with the reality that you will die can help you live more fully. Being with someone who is going through the dying process is an incredible teaching. I’ve supported people with diagnosis of cancer, old age, and young healthy people who want to be more intimate with death. Some of what this can look like is completing anything that feels incomplete with family and loved ones, support making a will/last wishes, end of life review, grieving, and coming to peace with letting go.
“When we are dying, uncertainty, vulnerability, and insecurity can intensify, and we have the choice to desperately hold on or to let go into the freshness that comes with the dissolution.” -Pema Chodron
Each lived moment offers death and rebirth. As we are able to let this moment die, we make space for what’s to come.
Psychedelic medicine can teach us about the cycles of death and birth, working with our grasping, appreciating life, and finding safety in surrender.
